Recommendation: It would be more efficient to carry him tightly in your arms. Your left arm cradling his waist and shoulderblade to hold him against your chest, your right lifting his buttocks. Should he lay sideways in your arms, his own looped around your neck to keep stable as you fly, or should you face each other, his legs gripping your waist with his ankles entwined below your buttocks? Some experimentation may be required. The primary goal is to keep a secure hold in flight, to grip him so that you can never be torn apart, and that he knows that he is safe in your arms. An arm across his back makes him easy to shield and press close for sudden evasive maneuvers, his face pressed into your collarbone protects him from unnecessary jolts.
That is the most tactically advisable way to fly.
